Belgrade has a reputation for offering a vibrant nightlife, and many clubs that are open until dawn can be found throughout the city. The most recognizable nightlife features of Belgrade are the barges (сплавови, splavovi) spread along the banks of the Sava and Danube Rivers.
Many weekend visitors - particularly from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia—prefer Belgrade nightlife to that of their own capitals, due to a perceived friendly atmosphere, great clubs and bars, cheap drinks, the lack of language difficulties, and the lack of restrictive night life regulation.

Skadarlija - the city's old bohemian neighborhood
Famous alternative clubs include Akademija and the famed KST (Klub Studenata Tehnike) located in the basement of the University of Belgrade Faculty of Electrical Engineering. One of the most famous sites for alternative cultural happenings in the city is the SKC (Student Cultural Center), located right across from Belgrade's high rise landmark, the Beograđanka. Concerts featuring famous local and foreign bands are often held at the center. SKC is also the site of various art exhibitions, as well as public debates and discussions.
A more traditional Serbian nightlife experience, accompanied by traditional music known as Starogradska (roughly translated as Old Town Music), typical of northern Serbia's urban environments, is most prominent in Skadarlija, the city's old bohemian neighborhood where the poets and artists of Belgrade gathered in the nineteenth century and early twentieth century. Skadarska Street (the center of Skadarlija) and the surrounding neighborhood are lined with some of Belgrade's best and oldest traditional restaurants (called kafanas in Serbian), which date back to that period. At one end of the neighborhood stands Belgrade's oldest beer brewery, founded in the first half of the nineteenth century. One of the city's oldest kafanas is the Znak pitanja "?" (Question Mark "?" kafana).
The respected Times newspaper in the UK reported that Europe's best nightlife can be found in buzzing Belgrade. In the Lonely Planet "1000 Ultimate Experiences", Belgrade was placed at the 1st spot among the top 10 party cities in the world.

Belgrade is an incredible city, trust me on word. Night life is guaranteed the best in Europe. People are very friendly and almost all speak English. Food is excellent! The city is alive 24 hours. Cafes, restaurants and accommodation in apartments which are in the city center are on the top level and offer excellent services. My recommendation is to go in the summer period.

This city never sleeps. I got lost so many times and every person was more then happy to help me out.City is very safe. I mean people are walking around at 3am. Be prepared for a positive experience. You will be amazed with Serbian food. It is as close to the nature as you can get. Dont get me started on the woman. Ladies from New York could learn a thing or two about the style. Take a chance and try something different. The only way to describe Belgrade is if you were sitting on an airplane next to a mild mannered man not knowing that he is a world champion race car driver.

Amazing people, true European architecture, beautiful parks, cafes always full of people, always something going on somewhere, beautiful art galleries, lots of museums, great for shopping and an amazing 13th century fortress! I've traveled all over the world and Belgrade is definitely high up on my top 10 list! Belgrade simply has it all... style, attractiveness, beauty, glamour, and lots of charisma! Trust me a trip to Belgrade is something you will never forget!

Never judge a city from the train

Pulling into Belgrade you might find easy to think the place is dirty and a dump, but actually there is a lot of magic and character to the city as well. Obviously, the Kalemegdan is a must see, being a historic fortress, park, and a great place for views of the entire city. Skadarska-Skadarlija is a great Bohemian street where you can and should sample Serbian rostilj (I recommend Tri Sesira restaurant). It's also worth visiting the many orthodox churches--the Cathedral Church, St. Sava's, and St. Marko's. Ask when they're having a service cause it's a pretty interesting experience if you've never been.
We stayed at the apartment in the Strahinjica Bana street, which is right by the Kalemegdan and Knez Mihailo street (the main pedestrian shopping street). It had a great location, was clean and well equipped, only cost 60 euro a night, and the staff was very informative and helpful.
The city has a few problems for tourists. Namely the National Museum has been closed for renovation for the past 3 years with no sign of reopening. St. Sava's is an impressive temple, but the interior still isn't finished. Still, there are plenty of surprises and lots of cheap pekaras to grab cheap burek at.

What a crazy city! Clubs, hotels, museums, galleries, great looking people, and everyone is so friendly! Love the city center! Amazing example of excellent European architecture. And the nightlife is the best I've ever seen! New York, watch out because you've got some tough competition here!

Belgrade is the city of very interesting night life. There are so many places where you could rest your soul and enjoy in making friendship with new interesting and openminded people.
Trust me people, in Belgrade u can find very good things and bad (like in evry town on the world), but
I have just great expiriance from this city. From monday to sunday, 24/7 you can have fun. There is a lot of coffe shops, bars, restourantes, world famous stores, beautiful people (especialy women). The most famous thing in Belgrade are clubs on the river, and bech with a lot of bars, so u can swim, drink coctels and enjoy. U can have faboulus time here, and u can find here what ever u want..fun, and great atmosfere.

my week in belgrade visiting friends
i met my friend in the dominican working. he invited me to go to visit his home town belgrade.
oh my god i have fell in love with that city.
the people are great i visited all tourist attractions and it was amazing. what a beautiful busling city.its so hot in the summer, go to the beach by the river, there are bars the length of the beach and put it this way the eye candy is mind blowing. i dont think there are any ugly people in that city .when the sun goes down they party every night the floating river clubs are unreal. i cannot really put into words that wellabout my experience. all i say is get out there. im heading back again in 2 weeks.
food is great , beer is bliss , people are so fine and on a whole if you dont visit this city you have not lived.

Belgrade is the way of living! Serbs knows to injoy in life and you can see that in every corner. People are very friendly and they want to help you! Women? It.s not normal at all...every second girl is like from midnight hot ftv program...Historical places are amazing, especially Kalemegdan! You must see ortodox temples, St Sava Temple and St Marko, then night clubs on rivers...

My family and I visited Belgrade in September 2004 and loved it, the people were friendly, the restaurants excellent (highly recommend Kavce in Karaburma and Tri Sesira in Skadarlija). I speak Serbian which helped but even without the language it would have been OK. It was also sad to see delapidated buildings, and other remnants of the bombings.We stayed in a luxury apartment right in the centre Terazije, a very tastefully decorated and clean apartment in Nusiceva street actually, which is in the very center of Belgrade-small street full of cafes restaurants and shops.
I can't wait to visit again!

I absolutely loved every moment of it! Belgrade is amazing! The night life is by far the best! I've never seen a city as dynamic and as active as Belgrade! People are so polite and are always more than willing to help. They really make you feel welcome. The city is beautiful... You should see all the architecture, monuments, parks, fountains, the rivers and the old fortress! There's also a beautiful island on river Sava which has really nice beaches and a beautiful park! Besides all that there is a ton of great restaurants and Serbian food is really good! I love the Serbian food. Also there are a lot of malls and stores to satisfy everyone's taste and pocket. I felt really comfortable in Belgrade and I am definitely going back!!! :)
