European Water Polo Championship in Belgrade 2016 Sport
The men’s qualifiers for the 2016 European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia (10-23 January, 2016) will be determined late September.
The draw for the 2nd round in the qualification phase was held and four groups have been created. They all feature one of the respective round 1 group winners who will face three other opponents this time as they will be looking to claim their spots at the 2016 European continental tournament. Finishing with the top 2 will do the job.
Each of the round 1 winners can be considered favorites to advance as the Netherlands, in group A, can expect to face their main rivals in Georgia while Russia will host group D where World League participant Turkey is likely to surge to take 2nd place and earn a berth.
Meanwhile group B in France could see a nice duel between the favorite hosts and round 1 winners Slovaki.
Finally in group C favorites are round 1 group winners Germany who will take on hosts Malta, very much looking to finish 2nd and get into the 2016 Europeans final tournament. Poland and Switzerland will be looking for the upset in this group. Full schedules will be announced later.
